OUR HISTORY
Château de Clotte was created during the Age of Enlightenment. It was in 1782 that the famous family of Bordeaux magistrates Roy de Clotte built the castle and gave it its name.
From the 18th to the 19th century, the Roy de Clotte family revealed the full potential of the castle but especially of the vineyard. Over the centuries, the various owners, mostly women, dedicated themselves to increasing the notoriety of the vineyard property and the wines. It was in the 20th century that the owner of the moment enhanced the terroir. With the help of a friend well known in the Saint-Emilion wine sector, she readjusted the grape varieties of the vineyard by planting Cabernets, more appropriate to this rich and balanced terroir. Today Château de Clotte is one of the few on the right bank to have a majority of Cabernets, which makes it unique.
